The Problem

Pyko was entering one of the toughest categories to compete in. New watch brands do not typically fail due to the inferiority of their product. They fail because, when compared to other similar products, customers tend to assess watches on the same criteria.

Price
Specifications
Design

Without decades of heritage and brand building, this is a competition that a new brand is destined to lose.

The Bottleneck

The website was not performing due to poor UX. Actually, the website was performing poorly due to customers coming to the website with the wrong expectations.

By comparing watches on these product criteria, the cheapest option is the one that wins. Every acquisition dollar was then chasing the diminishing returns of performance marketing.

The issue was not a lack of acquisition. The issue was positioning: a positioning that placed Pyko in direct comparison with its competitors in a way that the brand could not win.

What Changed

Rather than optimize the comparison, we changed the comparison.

The brand stopped talking about craftsmanship, value for money, and specifications. Instead, it talked about identity.

Founder-led content built familiarity with the brand long before a customer even landed on the website.

Organic content was the proving ground for messaging before it was deployed in paid media.

The website then reinforced this positioning, with customers being far less likely to compare the product to other watches and far more likely to identify with the brand and, therefore, buy from it.

What Was Implemented

Results

46.6% Organic Traffic — Demand generation shifted from media to owned and paid channels, reducing reliance on advertising.

+33.1% CTR — A sharper value proposition drove clicks from customers that had already identified with the brand and were more likely to convert.

+17.3% Mature Conversion Rate — By reducing friction in the purchase cycle, we drove traffic with higher purchase intent to the Pyko website.

+12.1% AOV — The reduction in price sensitivity meant that customers were more willing to pay for the product, reducing the need for discounts.

−23.2% CAC — Every metric in the customer acquisition funnel improved due to the reduction in friction, improving efficiency at every stage.
